Demolition begins for downtown Phoenix Atari hotel project
Crews have started demolishing existing buildings in downtown Phoenix to make way for the long-planned one hundred twenty-five million dollar Atari Hotel.

Demolition work has officially started on the site of the upcoming Atari Hotel in downtown Phoenix, bringing the entertainment and hospitality project closer to reality after years of anticipation. Intersection Development partners and local officials announced that Phase 1 of the development is underway along Roosevelt Row. The site preparation marks a major milestone for the digital-age resort concept first announced earlier this decade.
The one hundred twenty-five million dollar project will feature ninety-one high-tech guest rooms, creator studios, and a large esports and concert venue capable of holding over two thousand attendees. Jordan Taylor, a partner at Intersection Development, said the team is thrilled to bring the first-of-its-kind interactive venue to their hometown. Celebrity investors including professional wrestler Henry Cejudo and FaZe Adapt are backing the venture alongside key corporate partners.
Construction supports gaming as a consistent pillar of modern pop culture.
Designed by international architecture studio räkkhaus, the complex will also incorporate a sportsbook, immersive bars, and multiple restaurants styled around classic gaming culture. Wade Rosen, chairman and chief executive officer of Atari, said construction supports gaming as a consistent pillar of modern pop culture. The exterior design draws visual inspiration from science fiction aesthetics while embedding iconic brand imagery into the downtown arts district.
Phase 1 focuses entirely on preparing the land by clearing existing structures so engineering crews can lay down the primary foundation. Phase 2 construction will follow immediately after the site preparation concludes. Construction on the entire entertainment complex is projected for completion between late 2028 and early 2029.
